When was the last time you’ve done something that you enjoy enough to lose track of time?
Something that you want to continue to do up until you have just enough time to get to work and not be late?
I cannot recall the last time that I was able to do this and it not feeling like it was a chore or something that I was tasked with completing or needing to meet deadlines.
For me, I spent any and all of my free time outside of work, sleep, and other activities of daily living taking part in this activity that took place partially in my own mind.
This went on for about four days.
I read a book, for fun.
I struggle to remember the last time I was able to spend time like this on reading and actually enjoy it.
When I was younger, especially on summer breaks and breaks between semesters in school, I would find a book that I have had an eye on or would hear good things about and practically read until the book was done. Only taking breaks to eat and sleep. I miss the days where I could do that. Now, work or other obligations of adulthood manage to ruin those days I used to take for granted.
I hope I can set aside days like this in the future. And not have it be a once in 5 years deal. Maybe I should not just hope but actually do it, set time aside for myself and pick up a book that I hope I will not want to put down.
